Endoscopy is recommended when you have various persistent symptoms related to your upper gastrointestinal tract(gastroscopy) or large bowel(colonoscopy).

Using a flexible fiberscope, the doctor inspects the mucosal surface of your esophagus, stomach, duodenum(gastroscopy), and colon(colonoscopy).

This test helps confirm various conditions such as ulcer, reflux disease, portal hypertension, inflammatory diseases, and cancer.

In Korea, for people over 40 years old, it is recommended to have gastroscopy every two years even without any symptom. This is because gastroscopy is the most accurate way to diagnose early gastric cancer.

Colonoscopy is recommended to people over 50 years old, at five-year interval.

KAIST Clinic is equipped with endoscopy system that provides outstanding image quality with four times the resolution of traditional systems. In addition, two special light observation modes, Narrow Band Imaging(NBI) and Auto Fluorescence Imaging(AFI) improve the detection of subtle changes on the mucosal surface.
