Q [Diagnostic Test]-[Pulmonary Function Test] What are the preparations for the lung function test?
A

∙ Avoid overeating, smoking, and vigorous exercise 4 to 6 hours before the test

∙ Do not take any medication not prescribed by a doctor to take within 4 hours before the test.

∙ If possible, avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes.

∙ Remove dentures and keep them separately before the examination.

Q [Diagnostic Test]-[Pulmonary Function Test] What is a pulmonary function test?
A
Pulmonary function tests are performed to diagnose lung diseases by objectively measuring an individual's breathing ability and how well ventilation and gas exchanges, which are the basic functions of the lungs, are carried out.
Q [Diagnostic Test] –[Blood Test] Does not drawing too much blood cause anemia?
A

Blood is produced in our body every day, and there is no need to worry about the amount of blood drawn for testing because it is a very small amount of the total blood.

Q [Diagnostic Test] –[Blood Test] The blood collection site is bruised. What should I do?
A

This occurs when the compression hemostasis time after blood collection is short. When blood is drawn, a hole is created in a capillary vessel, and if the hole is not pressed with an alcohol swab to stop bleeding, blood will seep into the skin layer and cause bruising. Also, if the blood vessels are weak, there may be bruising, but it will disappear in 3 to 4 days.

Occasionally, swelling or bruising and pain may persist after blood is drawn. Most of the time, it will improve if you put ice on it and rest. In rare cases, the side effects may persist, and in such case treatment can be obtained by consultation with a doctor.

Q [Diagnostic Test] –[Blood Test] How long should I press the blood collection site after blood collection?
A

Although it varies from person to person, just press on the blood sampling site for about 5 minutes. In this case, you should not rub the site, and it is recommended not to put a bandage on your arm.

Q [Diagnostic Test] –[Blood Test] When can I take a bath or go swimming after the blood test?
A

It is possible to take a shower 2 hours after blood collection. In the case of a normal person, hemostasis occurs about 5 minutes after blood collection, so the possibility of infection from the blood collection site is very low. However, avoid using a steam room or sauna.

Q [Diagnostic Test] –[Blood Test] Can I take medicine before the blood test?
A

Whether you can take medications such as diabetes or blood pressure medicine varies from person to person, so please follow the instructions of the treatment department.

Q [Diagnostic Test] –[Blood Test] How many hours should I fast before the test?
A

You should usually fast for eight hours. Depending on the test, you may have to fast for about 12 hours. You can drink some water. In particular, the diabetes test and lipid test (cholesterol, triglyceride, etc.) have test items where you must observe the fasting time for accurate test results, and blood sugar is measured two hours after eating.

Also, the breath test requires a complete fast for 4 hours. Please follow the instructions before the test.

Q [Diagnostic Test] –[Blood Test] Why blood is drawn into many test tubes at the time of a blood test?
A

Since the required containers are different depending on the types of test, multiple containers can be used for blood sampling if there are many tests.
